What Are Your Core Beliefs?

As part of my exercises in self-awareness, I have done numerous projects.  I wrote my books – 50 Words, Our Stories Matter. I meditate daily. And recently as some work I am doing with my YPO forum, I challenged myself to think about my core beliefs.  I am taking this exercise in two steps: 1.

The Last Lecture – Andy Pausch

A must read. Period. Absolutely must read. Short and powerful, thought provoking. As a lecturer at carnegie Mellon, Professor Pausch gave his last lecture “Really Achieving your Childhood Dreams”. recently diagnosed with terminal cancer, he gave this lecture – a lecture about living, about fulfilling potential.

Living in the End Times – Slavoj Zizek

This wasn’t an easy read for me but it was very thought provoking. The author explores “the four horsemen” of what he sees as the terminal crisis of capitalism. Incredibly thought provoking. Like I said, not an easy read but I’m glad I read it. Talk about perspective!

The untethered Soul – Michael A. Singer

Deepak Chopra says “Read this book carefully and you will get more than a glimpse of eternity.” For those who enjoy self exploration, this is a must read.

Management of the Absurd – Richard Farson

Great, easy, stimulating read. Richard Farson explores a contrarian philosophy to Leadership. “He challenges today’s leaders to look past the quick fix and deal thoughtfully with the real complexities of Managing people”. He explores that in life, and in business, human behaviro is often irrational and that easy rational answers and solutions don’t always work
